Chinese Family Tree

If you are a Chinese, have you ever encounter a situation where you are supposed to meet a member of your extended family, but you are not sure how to address them? In most cases, we just call them “uncle or auntie” to be safe.

This is quite common, because Chinese language is so complicated such that there is different terms used for each person, depending on how does he/she related to you.
